PEPPERPOT - Biography

A DJ since 1992, Pepperpot feels as much at ease at confidential private parties as he does at festivals with audiences of more than 15.000 people, he has always devoted himself exclusively to DJ-ing, rubbing shoulders in his sonic trips with such major electronic-music figures as Derrick May, John Acquaviva, Steve Bug, DJ Pierre, Kenny Hawkes, Kevin Saunderson, Sasha Funke, Ivan Smagghe, DJ Hell, Swayzak… to name a few.

From 1996 to 1999 he was a resident DJ, and he co-promoted the famous private EL.UE parties which gathered the techno heads of Paris. That phenomenon grew, and Pepperpot was revealed to the French Techno scene. In summer 1999, Greg Lambert (his real name) moved to Australia and stayed there for a whole year. He played and had residencies in the main clubs in Sydney. At that time, he started refining his mixes as well as his musical sensibilities through his contacts on the local scene. As he widened the scope of his influences, making the most of an “other” vision of clubbing culture, he moved quite naturally towards a more Minimal and House sound that could be described as deep, groovy and trippy. Back in France in September 2000, and fortified by his musical experiences abroad, he took over two residencies at “L’Enfer” and “La Loco” … he also mixed a CD “Tech House Session 1” for Wagram Music.

In 2002, with Aurore Alcaline and a group of partygoers, Pepperpot created the association known as “Flexibulle”, which brought together DJs, VJs, Decorators, Stage Designers, Graphic Artists, Video Artists, Directors, Editors, Composers and Landscape Architects… who all shared a passion for electronic music and parties. Ever-ready to party 'til dawn, this Monty Pythonesque group of enthusiasts organized regular events in various sites across the French capital.

In 2005 he took over a residency at the famous club “Batofar”. His popularity continued to grow, and he played regularly at leading Paris venues, but it was in 2006 that he became an unavoidable figure on the French electronic scene, establishing a surprising mix-style: even more cutting-edge, while still retaining all its originality.
His passion for detail, combined with his musical maturity and original technique, became definitions for his unique concept of Minimal House Music.

Today he also works on his own production and various artistic collaborations. He will launch this year his own label « Hello Music », and as a Artistic Director promoting 2 events (“Hello“ at Rex Club and the “AtZbell“ parties, bringing to Paris for the first time artists such as Nekes, Reboot, Kreon, Lemos, Boris Werner, Federico Molinari, Ray Okpara, SiS, Lauhaus, Julien Chaptal…

BIOS

SIMON CALDWELL
Simon Caldwell is one of a handful of DJ's whose name adds a certain integrity to an event. Playing since the early 1990’s to beer drinkers, bum shakers and radio listeners alike, he has managed to avoid the stifling 'style' classification so many other DJ's trap themselves into, keeping himself free to draw on his varied loves of deep, soulful house, techno, funk, jazz, electro, booty, hip hop and anything else which catches his ear. Simon has supported a list of internationals longer than your arm, from James Brown to Grace Jones to Derrick Carter and Moodymann. He currently holds down Monday Sunset on FBI Radio, and is resident/co-promoter of Mad Racket, a Sydney underground party institution.

CLAIRE MORGAN
Claire is a vinyl junkie and music-maker who has spent the last decade gigging her way up and down the eastern seaboard of Australia and across the Pacific in New Caledonia. Establishing herself in Brisbane, she later moved to Sydney and then onto Melbourne and has held residencies, guested and headlined at most major clubs, parties and festivals in all three capital cities.
Claire graduated with a Masters degree at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, specialising in film scoring/composition. Outside of DJing she composes music for film and television and has written & produced everything from ambient electronic music through to orchestral scores. A remix on Melbourne's hAUL Music garnered favour and chart action from international luminaries and local DJs alike.
Both in the setup for an array of international house and techno elite or controlling the party at her own speed, Claire is a serious DJ, bringing an organic, soulful, melodic and groove-heavy heat to the party with her own unique selections and precision control at the mixer. To date, she has played with the biggest names on the planet, including Octave One, Carl Craig, Aril Brikha, Vince Watson, Efdemin, Fred P, Kirk Degiorgio, Rick Wilhite, Mathew Dear (Audion), Daniel Bell (DBX), Mathew Jonson, Derrick May, Miss Kittin and Joris Voorn.

ALEX LUDLOW
Founder of ‘This House Moves’ Alex has been DJing for eight years holding his residency at Wollongong’s biggest beer garden, North Wollongong Pub. After a long road of finding his sound adapting to any party or any supporting gig that came his way, he is beginning to find what really drives him to keep his feet firmly planted in the DJing industry, A concoction of deep soulful jazzy house sounds which can build to a more techier driving energetic house sound as the clock ticks closer to the early hours of the morning.
Alex is passionate about what he does and lives for the music and after all these years he has decided to share his knowledge of the house music industry and his love for music through his blog.www.thishousemoves.com. He also has been busy organising not only major underground house music events hosting international artists in various venues around Wollongong but is also the founder of the new brand ‘too&fro’ inviting some of Australia’s premier underground house music DJs to Wollongong to play along side his strong team of resident local DJs.
Alex has proven his ability to be host to high caliber acts in the industry evident by his most recent ‘This House Moves’ launch party with AUDIOJACK that reached venue capacity.
Over the last 2-3 years Alex has lived in 3 different cities and has found himself stomping round Europe from club to club researching the house music industry, favouriting IBIZA as his holiday destination. Alex is no newcomer to Wollongong but is garenteed to make a strong impact in months to come with the launch of ‘too&fro’ @ SuCasa
Be sure to Expect some more Quality Parties from ‘This House Moves’ and too&fro in the future.

Bio - Edu Imbernon

Edu Imbernon is a great example of how a young artist can quickly reach the top in the electronic scene… it’s his talent as producer and DJ that’s got him there.

After the worldwide hit “El baile alemán” (Liebe Detail, 2009) produced along his friend Coyu and appointed "Best Underground Track of the Year" by Beatport , several tracks for lauded labels like Get Physical, Young Turks, Skint, Stil vor Talent, Cr2, Noir Music, Trapez, Great Stuff, Diynamic and his own label Eklektisch. His quality as a producer and his ability to add a nu-disco tint to the dancefloor edge of his tracks have led him to remix bands such as The XX showcasing this homogenous blend of electronica, house and indie. Succesful remixes for Maya Jane Coles and X-Press 2 also ensued.

The emergence of Edu Imbernon on the dance scene couldn't go by unnoticed by the specialised press which has acknowledged his artistic quality by awarding him several prizes: Best New Producer 2010 and Best Track 2010 and 2011 at the Spanish Dance Music awards, and also named an up-and-coming star by Beatport in 2010.His aim is to make music that can be felt, full of energy which will connect with his audiences.

"This is the only way that people will remember your music, trying to make them feel something special and making them dance” says this young artist who's already played on 4 continents

░ ▒ SHADES OF GRAY BIOGRAPHY ░ ▒

In the summer of 2005 Czech national Michal Schwa landed in Australia with a bag full of vinyl, a string of DJ gigs and the promise of unchartered territory ahead. Soon after he met local producer Nick West; they discovered they shared a passion for electronic music and Michal offered Nick the opportunity to join him as a partner on his newly formed label Beef Records.

United by a love of producing and playing, and disillusionment with a music industry obsessed with genres, they soon began performing and working together in the studio under the Shades Of Gray moniker.

Michal and Nick quickly gained a reputation as one of the hottest acts on the Sydney underground scene by regularly rocking the floor at legendary Reckless Republic parties in Kings Cross. Schwa was resident DJ at Sydney's finest after-hours party Spice, where Shades debuted their unreleased tracks in the early days to rapturous response.

It wasn't long after that the boys were touring internationally, performing from Tokyo to Moscow and Paris to San Francisco. During their trips to Europe they would be based out of Schwa’s Prague studio, which is where some of their biggest tunes were produced including the download chart dominating track ‘Moog in the House’.

In the few short years since that first connection in 2005, Shades Of Gray have made a huge impact impact on the house music scene; Shur-i-Kan, Miguel Migs, Luna City Express, Miss Kittin, Jimpster, Pezzner, Laurent Garnier, Smash TV and The Timewriter are just the tip of an iceberg of fans. Their work, released on labels including Om Records, Dark Energy, Boxer, Tronicsole and Lost My Dog has also led them to have their work remixed by more of their supporters, including Ian Pooley, Milton Jackson, The Timewriter, Soul Minority, Boris Brejcha, Ramon Tapia, Alex Kenji, Norm De Plume and Jef K.

Their debut album and career pinnacle to date, ‘Soul Machine’, was critically acclaimed by the press, receiving glowing reviews in DJ Mag and DeBug, and coverage from Resident Advisor amongst others, while its tracks were licensed to several mainstream brand compilations (Clubstar, Defected, Om records). Furthermore UK based magazine Dj Mag included ‘Soul Machine’ in the 50 best albums of 2012.
