BUTCH

Brute name, versatile sound: Over 100 releases in 5 years have enabled BUTCH to express this versatility and brute-fully force his way to becoming a shaping artist in the worldwide
landscape of electronic music.

Honestly this success comes as no surprise, anyone who manages to release on the labels of artists such as Ricard Villalobos (Sei es Drum), Sven Väth (Cocoon) and Radioslave (Rekids) within a year and gets voted “producer of the year” (2010 & 2011) by the GROOVE magazine readers for two consecutive years, has doubtlessly worked his way up to the small circle of artists, which pack the most renowned clubs and festivals as headliners.

For Butch his latest performances include Tokyo's own Womb, Fabric in London, Cielo in New York and the Time Warp 2011. Last summer he followed Carl Cox's invitation to play together at Space in Ibiza and spent every other week with his own residency at Sankeys on the most beloved Mediterranean island. 2012 started just like the last year ended – many more miles were added to the Lufthansa card: After a tour through Mexico, Central America and Australia, top notch clubs in Europe are waiting for Butch: Robert Johnson in Offenbach,
Tenax in Florence, Cadenza at Ushuaia Beach (Ibiza), Loveland in the Netherlands, Extrema Festival in Belgium and the renowned “Sonne Mond und Sterne” as well as the “Merkwürdige Verhalten am Strand” - festivals are all expecting to be captured by Butch's sound. On the other hand capturing what Butch's style is exactly isn't that simple. The range within the productions of the Mainz born artist stretches from House to Techno, but Butch manages to inject his own authentic and unique sound, which digs itself through the fans' and DJs' ears right into their hearts.

The musical diversity and his joy for experimentation have made his albums “Papillon” (2008) and “Eyes Wide Open” (2010) to audible feasts for every gourmet, to be enjoyed just as much on the home stereo as well as in any club.

That his sound achieves positive resonance en masse is impressively shown on the Resident Advisor homepage. The website which claims to be an international indicator for the credibility of electronic music and its producers, had Butch up as the “Most Charted Artist” for over a year. A success which speaks volumes, because it cannot be manipulated as record sales once were; solely the charts of a worldwide DJ community count.

The good-spirited global player has a lot more music coming for us to look forward to. More new releases on other top labels are ready to hit the floors, furthermore (as well as on anstatt furthermore?) his own record label bouq. which is maturing to be the renowned imprint which won't be standing in the shadows of its makers (besides Butch this includes his friend and studio-partner Amir) any longer. By the way, within the next twelve months, Butch will hit the stores with a new album. Good times, stay tuned!

EDU IMBERNON

Edu Imbernon is a great example of how a young artist can pave his way to become respected on the electronic scene with his talent as producer and dj.

After the worldwide hit “El baile alemán” (Liebe Detail, 2009) produced with his friend Coyu, appointed “Best Underground Track of the Year” by Beatport , several tracks for labels as important as Get Physical, Young Turks, Skint, Stil vor Talent, Cr2, Noir Music, Trapez, Great Stuff, Dynamic and his own label Eklektisch.

His quality as producer and his ability to add a nu-disco tint to the dancefloor edge of his tracks have led him to remix bands such as The XX showcasing this homogenous blend of electronica, house and indie. Succesful remixes for Maya Jane Coles or X-press2 came afterwards.

The emergence of Edu Imbernon on the dance scene couldn’t go by unnoticed by the specialised press which has acknowledged his artistic quality by awarding him several prizes: Best New Producer 2010 and Best Track 2010 and 2011 at the Spanish Dance Music awards, and also named an up-and-coming star by Beatport in 2010.

His aim is to make music that can be felt, full of energy to reach the audience. “This is the only way that people will remember your music, trying to make them feel something special and making them dance”, in the words of this young artist who’s already played on 4 continents. He’s here to make his mark!

LUKE SLATER [MOTE EVOLVER, UK]

Having burst back onto the scene in 2009 with his Planetary Assault Systems 'Temporary Suspension' album on Berlin's tastemaker Ostgut Ton label, Luke Slater has been instrumental in reinvigorating the scene which he helped to create by bringing back techno's traditional, purist values. The human embodiment of the cyclical nature of music, Slater's many incarnations have, at various points in the past two decades, come to define techno.

In 2011 the veteran producer emerged from his Spacestation UK studio to release his second P.A.S album on Ostgut Ton; 'The Messenger'. Through hypnotising tracks like 'Human Like Us', 'Bell Blocker' or 'Motif' that churn and undulate in addictive tension, to heavy club workouts like the thundering 'Rip The Cut', 'Kray Squid' or the riotous 'Cold Bolster', to more subdued and spaced-out moments like 'Railer' or 'Beauty In The Fear' Slater has created a highly critically praised electronic album which is as listenable as it is challenging, memorable and progressive and continuous to receive heavy club rotations from peers and fans worldwide.

Over 12 tracks of exploratory techno and electronica, Slater chases that fundamental wave - seeking new sounds while staying true to the original P.A.S. ideology and channels an on-going search for new ground into cutting-edge modern music, from non-conformist techno to exquisite electronica.

The impact of both albums can be measured against the demand for Slater's worldwide DJ travels schedule and the Planetary Assault Systems Live performances that Luke and his crew have been touring for the past 3 years at festivals and clubs including Berghain, Tomorrowland, AgeHa, Time Warp, Amnesia, ADE, Fabric, Melt!, Dour Festival, Mysteryland, I Love Techno, BLOC, Klubbers Day, Aquasella, Space, Electrobeach Festival, Atomic Jam, DEAF, Social Club, Nature One and Awakenings.

Meanwhile, Luke's Mote-Evolver imprint has impressed with a run of very well received releases spanning the range of the genre. With dancefloor bombs from Planetary Assault Systems, Shifted, Marcel Fengler and Psyk + deep space techno from Lucy, Samuli Kemppi, L.B. Dub Corp and various peak time dancefloor reworks; Mote-Evolver continues to deliver fresh momentum to the scene by steadfastly sticking to the twin values of consistent quality and varied content.
