SIMON CALDWELL
Simon Caldwell is one of a handful of DJ's whose name adds a certain integrity to an event. Playing since the early 1990’s to beer drinkers, bum shakers and radio listeners alike, he has managed to avoid the stifling 'style' classification so many other DJ's trap themselves into, keeping himself free to draw on his varied loves of deep, soulful house, techno, funk, jazz, electro, booty, hip hop and anything else which catches his ear. Simon has supported a list of internationals longer than your arm, from James Brown to Grace Jones to Derrick Carter and Moodymann. He currently holds down Monday Sunset on FBI Radio, and is resident/co-promoter of Mad Racket, a Sydney underground party institution.

CLAIRE MORGAN
Claire is a vinyl junkie and music-maker who has spent the last decade gigging her way up and down the eastern seaboard of Australia and across the Pacific in New Caledonia. Establishing herself in Brisbane, she later moved to Sydney and then onto Melbourne and has held residencies, guested and headlined at most major clubs, parties and festivals in all three capital cities.
Claire graduated with a Masters degree at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, specialising in film scoring/composition. Outside of DJing she composes music for film and television and has written & produced everything from ambient electronic music through to orchestral scores. A remix on Melbourne's hAUL Music garnered favour and chart action from international luminaries and local DJs alike.
Both in the setup for an array of international house and techno elite or controlling the party at her own speed, Claire is a serious DJ, bringing an organic, soulful, melodic and groove-heavy heat to the party with her own unique selections and precision control at the mixer. To date, she has played with the biggest names on the planet, including Octave One, Carl Craig, Aril Brikha, Vince Watson, Efdemin, Fred P, Kirk Degiorgio, Rick Wilhite, Mathew Dear (Audion), Daniel Bell (DBX), Mathew Jonson, Derrick May, Miss Kittin and Joris Voorn.
Claire recently relocated to Berlin, where she has already started gigging locally and abroad in Czech Republic.

MAGIC BIRD

Inner Sydney local Dj’s Kingsley Leabres and Todd Smith come together to produce the underground sound of deep tech house. Influenced by the likes of Eats everything (dirty bird crew) and Huxley, Magic bird bring you a flavour all too familiar, with thick baseline grooves and cheeky drops.. Recognizing their sound as fresh and exciting, the local duo play as resident Dj’s at the infamous Chinese Laundry Club. Magic Bird taking flight, Definitely a group to keep your eye on.

ALEX LUDLOW
Founder of ‘This House Moves’ Alex has been DJing for eight years holding his residency at Wollongong’s biggest beer garden, North Wollongong Pub. After a long road of finding his sound adapting to any party or any supporting gig that came his way, he is beginning to find what really drives him to keep his feet firmly planted in the DJing industry, A concoction of deep soulful jazzy house sounds which can build to a more techier driving energetic house sound as the clock ticks closer to the early hours of the morning.
Alex is passionate about what he does and lives for the music and after all these years he has decided to share his knowledge of the house music industry and his love for music through his blog.www.thishousemoves.com. He also has been busy organising not only major underground house music events hosting international artists in various venues around Wollongong but is also the founder of the new brand ‘too&fro’ inviting some of Australia’s premier underground house music DJs to Wollongong to play along side his strong team of resident local DJs.
Alex has proven his ability to be host to high caliber acts in the industry evident by his most recent ‘This House Moves’ launch party with AUDIOJACK that reached venue capacity.
Over the last 2-3 years Alex has lived in 3 different cities and has found himself stomping round Europe from club to club researching the house music industry, favouriting IBIZA as his holiday destination. Alex is no newcomer to Wollongong but is garenteed to make a strong impact in months to come with the launch of ‘too&fro’ @ SuCasa
Be sure to Expect some more Quality Parties from ‘This House Moves’ and too&fro in the future.

SIMON ROACH
Born and bred in the Gong, Simon discovered his love for house music and all things 4:4 at an early age.
Since then, his taste has matured and his technical ability on the one's and two's has followed suit.
Simons' skills have seen him score support slots for some of the biggest names in Aussie dance such as, Bass Kleph, The Potbelleez, The Aston Shuffle, The Bang Gang DJ's, Purple Sneakers, Tommy trash, The Stafford Brothers and Timmy Trumpet.
Simon has also had the opportunity to support several international acts including, Sharem Jey, Azzido Da Bass, Nadastrom and Peo De Pitte.
Simons' sets usually reflect the latest in contemporary deep house and tech, always keeping it tight, jackin and funky. He also has the ability and versatility to rock the main room when required.
Recently departing the sunny shores of the south coast, Simon now hails out of London, UK looking to take things to an international level both musically and technically. Hard working and creative, a start on the production of Simons' take on house music is looking promising and surely only just around the corner.

DEZ ANDRES & SIMON CALDWELL

WHERE: Tatler
WHEN: Friday, January 25, 2013

--- RA Tickets ---
----------------
Boom Boom is proud to present one of our favourite producers and DJ's straight out the D. DJ Dez Andres aka Andrés..

Dez Andrés has been releasing classically-informed house, soul, hip-hop and funk since 1997. Moodymann is his closest contemporary. Being part of such famous groups as Slum Village and being close friends with J Dilla, KDJ, Amp Fiddler and just being part of the collective underground in Detroit - Dez has forged a name for himself in the underground for many years.

Dez was releasing stuff under "Mahogani" (KDJ Label) for many years including some cult classics including Andrés, Andrés II, and Andrés III. Since then Moodymann has pushed Dez to start his own label "La Vida". In 2012 "La Vida" came into the scene and the very first release has been a crazy sensation with tracks "New For U" and "Jazz Dance".

"New For U" was rated track of the year on both RA and FACT Magazine which has also cemented Dez's status. His other releases on "La Vida" were sold out on Juno the minute they were on pre-order, making each one of Dez's releases rare and much strived for.

Besides being an amazing producer, the most important thing for us is at Boom Boom is having an amazing DJ as well. With his hip-hop background and his crazy abilities behind the decks, Dez's sets are legendary. His ability to transcend genres and push boundaries is one of the main reasons we wanted to get Dez here to Australia for the very first time as Andrés.

Make sure you come down early as we have the one and only Simon Caldwell (Mad Racket) down supporting on the night. Simon needs no introduction as he is another close friend to the Boom Boom family. Along side Simon we have the resident Boom Boom DJ's Daniel Lupica and Karim laying down the beats..

Tickets are going to sell out. We are back to Boom Boom HQ's at Tatler. Making this a very special and intimate night for 150 very lucky guests.

Don't sleep on this - once we are sold out, that's it. There will be only 30 tickets on the door at $40.

SONIDO with SIMON CALDWELL

WHERE: One22

WHEN: Saturday, January 12, 2013

After a jam-packed launch party SONIDO returns for another house and techno love affair at our favourite underground club One22.

Last time round, with an unplanned extended set Simon Caldwell tore the club apart and turned the dance floor into pandemonium until the lights came up. So without question we had to get him back in the driving seat to do what he does best.

Simon is a master in his field and has been lighting up dancefloors around the globe since the early nineties. From his legendary Mad Racket parties to sharing the stage with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Dave Clarke and Derrick May to name but a few, Simon has done it all. Catch Simon every Monday night for Sunset on FBI Radio on 94.5FM or www.fbiradio.com/program/monday-sunset/

Balearic in spirit, but rooted firmly in house and nu disco we would like to introduce to Australia, UK dj and producer Tang. Tang jets out to Sydney for his Australian debut bringing his delectable musical treats for you to sample. Past, present and future classics guaranteed. With a residency at London's 93 Feet East and festivals including Glastonbury under his belt it brings us great pleasure in welcoming him to Sonido.

And of course your Sonido residents, Tom Harwood, Ryan Kenna and Andy Myatt

Vladislav Delay

WHERE: Civic Underground, Sydney

WHEN: Friday, November 16, 2012

He has been described by The Wire magazine as “electronica’s omni-musician”.

He creates experimental dubby minimalism as Vladislav Delay.

He makes hyper real house as Luomo, collaborating with vocalists such as Cassy, Robert Owens, the Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, Roisin Murphy and Apparat.

He indulges his choppier techno proclivities as Uusitalo and Sistol.

He is also part of electronic supergroup The Moritz Von Oswald Trio, working alongside the Basic Channel man and Ricardo Villalobos collaborator Max Loderbauer.

He has been remixed by Ricardo Villalobos & Martin Schopf (as RicK Y Martin), Stimming and Ian Pooley.

He is just about to release a new album, Kuopio, on Raster-Noton.

He left Resident Advisor with more questions than answers in their 4.5/5 review of his album of “beautifully deformed pop songs”, Paper Tigers:
- ‘What to make of someone who says ‘I don’t go clubbing’ then comes to Tokyo’s Liquid Room and virtually fucks his laptop in front of everyone?
- What to make of an artist who produces what is regarded as a ruptural, revolutionary album (‘Vocalcity’) and then calls it a ‘failure?’
- What to make of a musician who works in the space between arrhythmia, silence and narcotic mania and then votes Massive Attack’s ‘Blue Lines’ as his desert island album and cites Timbaland and MeShell Ndegeocello as desired collaborators?

He was chosen by Animal Collective to perform at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival that they curated in May 2011.

He is playing an exclusive live show replete with visuals in a special event presented by Shrug and Deep Impressions.

He is: Sasu Ripatti-Luomo-Vladislav Delay-Sistol-Uusitalo & 1/3 Moritz Von Oswald Trio.

“I don’t produce music for the clubs,” he says. “It’s just too homogenous and restricted formula with all the rules and expectations, for me it really kills the music… I don’t fully understand why it all has become so boring and uninspiring and why DJs wouldn’t play more interesting music.”

Do not miss a live performance from one of the most uniquely talented, diverse and prolific proponents of electronic music of the past fifteen years.

Thomas was a recent finalist in FBi Radio’s Northern Lights competition, whose album Deccan Technicolour attracted comparisons to Flying Lotus and was praised for being “at once genuinely eclectic and totally coherent; full of lopsided beats, glitchy grooves, ingeniously butchered samples, and woozy, psychedelic soundscapes”.

FUTURE CLASSICS & SIMON CALDWELL

FUTURE CLASSIC DJS, Simon Caldwell, Mark Galpin, Al Lee, Christian, Dim vs Unpressed.

www.summeronthegreen.com

First release $15 + b/f

Second release $20 + b/f
On the door $25

This year for Summer on the Green we have 2 of our most admired DJ acts set to play and we can’t be more excited! First up of the two is the FUTURE CLASSIC DJS, these guys have put on some of the best nights that we have had out over the past couple of years in Sydney with their club night Adult Disco. We couldn’t have thought of anyone better to lay down 3 hours of beats over the green in the afternoon as the sun goes down!

Next we have Simon Caldwell, who is personally my favorite Sydney DJ, Simon is more adaptable than MacGyver with a tooth pick, rubber band and a match stick. He can play according to any venue, time and location. Having spent more time laying down beats in bowling clubs with Madracket which has been going strong for nearly 14 years we thought that there is nobody better in Sydney, let alone Australia to play a set in the Bondi bowling club.

This year we also have Al Lee and Mark Galpin laying down nu-disco and house as well as the usual Summer on the Green DJ’s, Christian and Dim vs unpressed pumping out house and techno as the day draws to a close. If you want a fun day of beats, bowls and cheap beer/vino with a bunch of friendly people then look no further than Summer on the Green. Young kids are also welcome with their parents and of course the kids pay nothing!

Summer on the Green – 17th November 2012
2pm - Midnight
Bondi Bowling Club – 1 Warners Avenue, Bondi

Tickets are available from http://www.summeronthegreen.com/ and Resident Advisor

First release $15 + b/f
Second release $20 + b/f

FUTURE CLASSIC DJS (3 hour set)

Future Classic DJs play and curate two residencies in Sydney - Adult Disco, a cult club night that doesn't finish til sunrise and hosts international guests from the house, disco, techno and bass music scenes and Sunhaze, a Sunday afternoon BBQ and comedown session designed to bring your weekend to a close in style with soul, hip hop and and disco – Time Out described it as “some seriously good music” so they must be doing something right.

(And by ‘alongside’, we mean on the same stage, not tucked away at a tiny bar at the same festival or adjoining suburb).

As a DJ, Simon Caldwell continues to push new ideas and influences while still being able to draw on the history of his expansive and discriminating record collection. Whether he's playing deep house, techno, ambient, soul, hip hop, bangin' Chicago house, Detroit electro or jazz, you can expect to hear the old alongside the new, but in the hands of Simon Caldwell, music is timeless.

Mark Galpin

English DJ Mark Galpin has been a part of Sydney's underground music scene for the past decade, ever since moving to Australia from hometown Newcastle in the UK with a pair of Technics 1210s. Mark has mastered his craft through gigs all over town as well as far flung international places including Rio's famous street carnival, and is also a well known local promoter - of Shindig events, progressive house night Habit, and many boat parties on Sydney's Harbour. Built on melody and with smatterings of piano, sax and classic old-skool house - his DJ sets are always an uplifting experience!

Al Lee

Al Lee is back for his second Summer on the Green after playing at the first one, Al loves all things disco and house and is one for setting the mood on the dance floor/bowling green/kick on and/or bar mitzvah. Expect lots of tunes made for the sunshine when Al hits the decks!

Christian

As one of the founders of Summer On the Green, he loves all forms of dance music and can play anything from disco through to techno, normally one for the opening set’s he is looking forward to closing out the night this time with Dim vs unpressed. He can normally be found DJ’ing at various house parties in the Bondi area as well as the infamous fancy dress pub crawl final destination parties, the next being the Organic Food and Beverage pub crawl where he is looking to play a set comprised of nothing but house songs about food… Sandwiches anyone?

Dim vs unpressed

These guy’s put the M in Minimal, they are so Minimal that they have been growing their Berlin fringes since the dawn of time, expect nothing but a kick drum while the other one hits a symbol every 4th beat. All jokes aside, there will be no symbol.

The word is out...

Dear Friends, Punters & Music Lovers alike,

It is a sad tale we must recount today, but where there is darkness there is light, and the sadness of this story is tinged with hope; hope that you, dear reader, can ignite.

It was a grave misfortune when one John Joseph Frederick Dean Dixon Jr stepped out of a cab one night unaware of the contents left behind, a misfortune that has proven to be a cruel and devastating loss. To his benefit four fellow vinyl Dj’s and friends come together for one night to replenish and help restore Dean’s loss - namely one black record bag containing sixty rare, signed and collectable vinyls, and one set of headphones.

We ask that you join us down at One22 Nightclub on the Friday 12th October to help restore not only a poor man’s faith, but also the faith in vinyl Dj’s worldwide; the faith that we will continue to peruse our love and will to play 12” records for the donation door entry price of $10.

All proceeds will go to John Joseph Frederick Dean Dixon Jr directly, who will most likely be in the same state as he was in when he lost his records in the first place.

From all at the Recovery Fund,
Eric, Dave, Dave, Magda & Simon.
